“Garage ready” is not a size and it is not a marketing sticker for a tougher cabinet — it is an ambient-temperature rating that tells you the freezer’s thermostat and compressor were engineered to keep working when the room around them swings hot or cold. Skip the marketing copy and find the rated ambient operating range — the actual low and high temperatures the manufacturer says it will run within. The freezer still sheds heat through its condenser, so leave the usual airflow clearance around the back and sides, typically about 1–2″, and don’t box it into a tight cabinet that traps that heat. Confirm the lid or door can fully open in the spot you’ve chosen, and account for the swing before you push it against a wall.
