An 18-inch dishwasher fits a cabinet bay too narrow for the standard 24″ — common in apartments, galley kitchens, condos and bars. It holds fewer place settings but uses the same plumbing. Here are the dimensions and every compact dishwasher we track.

The opening is the number that matters: an 18″ dishwasher needs an 18″ cabinet cut, 24″ deep, 34½″ tall (height adjusts on the legs). Same water, drain and power as a 24″.

Fit notes

  • Width is the whole point. Pick 18″ only when the cabinet bay can’t take 24″ — you give up roughly a third of the capacity.
  • Same rough opening height/depth as a 24″. 34½″ tall, 24″ deep; only the width changes. Watch the post-tile floor height like any built-in.
  • Panel-ready options exist in 18″ from some brands — budget the panel thickness so the front sits flush.
