KitchenAid Refrigerator Dimensions: Freestanding & Built-In

KitchenAid spans two very different install types: freestanding French-door refrigerators that drop into a standard opening, and 84″-tall built-in columns and side-by-sides that finish flush with cabinetry. The fit question depends on which you’re buying — here are the sizes for both.

Typical KitchenAid dimensions by type

Type Width Height Depth
French door / bottom-freezer (freestanding) 30–36″ 68–70″ 33–35″
Built-in column & side-by-side 24–48″ 84″ ~24″ (flush)
Undercounter / compact 24″ 34–35″ ~24″
Dishwasher 24″ opening 32⅜″ 24″

Widths and heights are from the KitchenAid models we track; freestanding depth is the standard form-factor figure and built-in depth is the flush 24″ install figure. Built-in columns also come in narrower widths (18–36″) — size the niche from the model’s spec sheet.

Fit notes

  • Built-ins need a finished niche. The 84″ columns and built-in side-by-sides install into a framed cabinet opening at a flush ~24″ depth — not a freestanding gap. Always size the niche from the exact model.
  • Freestanding French-door. The 30–36″ models drop into a standard opening; a “36-inch” unit is ~35¾″ wide, so plan a full 36″ opening plus door swing.
  • Undercounter is 24″. KitchenAid’s compact and undercounter refrigeration uses a 24″ width — the standard cabinet bay.
