Wall Oven Dimensions & Cabinet Cutout Sizes (24, 27 & 30 Inch)

Wall ovens come in three nominal widths — 24, 27 and 30″ — but the number that decides the install is the cabinet cutout, not the oven’s face. The cutout is always smaller than the trim you see, and it’s the one dimension you can’t fix after the cabinet is built. Here are the typical opening sizes to plan around, and why you cut to the model’s own template.

Cut to the model, not the chart

Cutout dimensions are model-specific and the tolerances are tight — a half-inch off and the oven won’t seat or the trim won’t cover. Use the ranges below to size the cabinet and check the spot, then cut to the exact rough-opening in your oven’s installation template. Treat any chart, including this one, as planning guidance.

Typical single wall oven cutouts

The nominal width is the oven; the cutout width is roughly 1–1½″ narrower. Single-oven cutout heights cluster in the high-20s, with depth set by the cabinet (usually a standard 24″ base).

Double wall ovens are about twice the height

A double wall oven uses the same cutout width as its single equivalent but roughly doubles the height to stack two cavities. Plan a tall cabinet opening:

The clearances and connections that bite

Depth and the cabinet. Most wall ovens drop into a standard 24″ base cabinet, but the oven body needs the full ~23½–24″ and a few inches behind for the junction box — confirm the cabinet isn’t shallower.
Power. Electric wall ovens are hard-wired on a dedicated 240V circuit (often 30–50A); the connection point sits behind or below the cutout. A gas wall oven needs a gas line plus a 120V outlet.
Weight and support. A double oven is heavy — the cabinet needs a solid support rail at the base of the cutout, not just the trim, to carry it.
