Range Dimensions

A range combines the cooktop and oven in one unit, sized by width (almost always 30″), whether it’s freestanding or slide-in, and its fuel. The width is what your cabinets are built around; here are the standard sizes and every model we’ve measured from the manufacturer spec sheet.

What decides a range fit

Spec Typical
Width 30″ (24, 36 and 48″ also made)
Counter height 36″ — built to sit flush
Depth (body / with handle) ~25–29″ / up to ~30″+
Configuration Freestanding or slide-in

Match the width to your opening, leave the manufacturer’s side clearances, and confirm a slide-in’s countertop cut before the counters are templated. Standard widths, slide-in vs freestanding and fuel are covered in range & cooktop dimensions and gas vs electric ranges.

Will it fit your opening?

Frequently asked

How wide is a standard range?
30″ is the standard for most kitchens. Compact ranges are 24″; pro-style models run 36″ or 48″. We list the exact overall width per model.
What’s the difference between freestanding and slide-in?
A freestanding range has finished sides and a rear control panel and can stand alone; a slide-in has unfinished sides, front controls, and nests into the counter for a built-in look — usually needing the countertop cut to its spec.
Will a new range fit my old opening?
Almost always, if both are the same nominal width — 30″ ranges drop into a 30″ opening. Check depth and the slide-in countertop cut against the model’s spec sheet, which we link on each page.
